Q: Can I take my road test with Roskelley Driving School even if I took driving lessons elsewhere?
A: Absolutely! Roskelley Driving School is a certified third-party testing school. You can take your official Utah DMV road test with us regardless of where you completed your driving instruction. We specialize in administering the state-required skills test.
Q: What are your hours for administering state drivers tests?
A: Our testing hours vary to accommodate different schedules. Please check our schedule by selecting "Book Appointment" in the top right.
Q: How far in advance should I schedule my Utah road test?
A: We recommend scheduling your test as soon as you feel prepared and have met all requirements. Our slots can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons. Booking in advance ensures you get your preferred time.
Requirements & What to Bring
Q: What do I need to bring for my Utah State Drivers Test?
A: To ensure a smooth testing experience, please bring the following:

Proof of your completed Driver Education (if you are under 19).

A properly registered and insured vehicle that is in safe, working condition for the test (lights, brakes, signals, tires, etc.).

Q: What are the vehicle requirements for the driving skills test?
A: Your test vehicle must be street-legal, in good working order, and have valid registration and insurance. Our examiner will perform a brief inspection to ensure:

Q: Do you provide a vehicle for the state drivers test?
A: No, Roskelley Driving School does not provide vehicles for the actual state drivers skills test. You must bring your own vehicle or arrange for one that meets all Utah DMV requirements and is accompanied by a licensed driver.
Q: What age do I need to be to take the Utah drivers test?
A: If you are under 19, then you are required to take drivers education before testing. Over 19 does not have the requirement and can test at anytime.
The Driving Test Process
Q: What will happen during my official Utah driving skills test?
A: The state driving skills test assesses your ability to safely operate a vehicle and demonstrate basic maneuvers. It typically includes:

Q: What is the most common reason that people fail?
A: Headchecks. 3 missed headchecks(over the shoulder) results in a failed test. When you signal make sure to do each step of SMOG(signal, mirror, over the shoulder, go).
Q: What happens if I fail my state drivers test?
A: If you do not pass your driving skills test, you will be informed of the areas where improvement is needed. You can reschedule your test with us once you feel ready to try again. There may be a waiting period of 24 hours required by the DMV before retesting.
Roskelley Driving School Specifics
Q: Does Roskelley Driving School offer driving instruction or lessons?
A: No, Roskelley Driving School specializes exclusively in administering the official Utah State Drivers Testing (road tests). We do not offer driving instruction, lessons, or behind-the-wheel training. We recommend seeking out a certified driving instructor for lessons if you need them. We plan to offer this in the future as we expand our school.
Q: Where is Roskelley Driving School located?
A: Roskelley Driving School is currently a home based business. You will be given an address in Pleasant Grove to meet the tester after you schedule.
Q: Are your examiners certified by the Utah DMV?
A: Yes, all of our driving test examiners are fully certified and approved by the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) to administer the official state driving skills test. You can be confident in the professionalism and integrity of your test.
After Your Test
Q: What happens after I pass my Utah drivers test with Roskelley Driving School?
A: Congratulations! Once you successfully pass your skills test, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork (a sealed envelope) to take to the Utah Driver License Division (DLD) to obtain your physical driver's license.
Q: How long does it take to get my physical Utah driver's license after passing the test?
A: After passing your test, you'll take your paperwork to a DLD office. The DLD will then process your application and issue your temporary physical license the same day you visit their office, provided all other requirements are met.
